Job Summary:
 Maumee Valley Country Day School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Varsity Head Field Hockey Coach to lead and mentor student-athletes within our developing field hockey program. This individual will work in collaboration with the varsity head coach and the Athletic Department to foster skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of personal growth in our student-athletes.


The JV Head Coach plays an essential role in preparing athletes for higher levels of competition while creating a positive and inclusive team environment. This is a part-time seasonal position that reports to the Director of Athletics.


Responsibilities:

  • Teach foundational field hockey skills, game tactics, and team strategies

  •  Plan, organize, and conduct regular team practices and competitions. 

  • Cultivate a team culture rooted in mutual respect, discipline, and personal accountability.

  • Work closely with the varsity coaching staff to align developmental goals and systems of play.

  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and school staff.

  • Uphold Maumee Valley’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all team activities.

  • Manage equipment and uniforms in coordination with the Athletic Department.

  • Ensure athlete safety, proper supervision, and compliance with school and league policies.

  • Attend required school and league meetings, trainings, and DEIB initiatives.

  • Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the program and school.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience coaching field hockey (JV, varsity, or club level preferred).

  • Knowledge of fundamental field hockey rules, strategies, and player development practices.

  • Ability to teach and motivate athletes with varying skill levels.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • A commitment to sportsmanship, inclusivity, and holistic student development.

  • Availability for practices, games, and team events during the fall season.

  • Must be eligible for (or willing to obtain) an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit.
